The Shark Tooth is 56mm long and 30mm at its widest.
This Shark Tooth is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Marsden Valley in the Paroa area just outside of Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island. It has some of the golden colours of the 'Marsden Flower Jade' at the bottom of the pendant. The 'Marsden Flower Jade' is called this due to the unique golden colouring (the flower) in the stone found in the Marsden area.
The back of the Shark Tooth is shaped/scalloped so that it is extra comforting to rub with the thumb while it is worn.
The Shark Tooth has a waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in the water. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
The shark tooth is a symbol of male strength, proud masculinity and potency. It offers strength guile, protection and guidance to the wearer.
As a talisman it brings affluence and good fortune to the wearers life and it is believed to protect the individual from evil spirits, shark attacks and water accidents.
The shark spirit embodied in the tooth is a peaceable predator in Maori belief. It is to be strong and aggressive when it comes to opportunities and challenges. At the same time forge lasting friendships and work hard to keep the peace.
