Authentic West Coast Pounamu (Jade) found by Garth Wilson
My name is Garth Wilson. My family connections with carving pounamu (Jade, greenstone) go back hundreds of years to the Maori tribes Ngati Mahaki and Ngati Waewae who were the original traders of pounamu (Jade) here on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Because of these family connections I have special customary rights to gather my own Pounamu (jade) from the local rivers and mountains.
Each piece of pounamu (jade) is personally carved by Garth Wilson
I personally carve all the pounamu (Jade, greenstone) works in my studio and each design has its own story. You’ll be able to watch me carve, handle some of the best pounamu (Jade) rocks that my whanau/family and I have found over the years on the West Coast of the South Island.
Buy a hand carved pounamu piece from our online shop or visit me in my studio.
If you are looking for a special piece of pounamu (Jade, greenstone), just browse the pounamu (Jade) of interest below and buy immediately online or come and see me in my studio on the road to Shantytown. I look forward to meeting you soon!
It only remains for me so say thank you both for you help and advice – what started as a simple bit of online shopping turned into a wonderful experience culminating in a perfect gift for the perfect woman – and to recommend your services to anyone looking for that special piece.
Warm wishes, Karen & Monique
We are both overwhelmed by the incredible craftsmanship and detail in the carving. They’re outstandingly exceptional and beautiful. Thankyou so much for spreading your gift to the world for people not of NZ/Maori heritage to wear. I have loved jade since a little girl and yours Garth just takes my breath away.

Me and my girlfriend were in your gallery today and bought two beautiful pieces of jade. We’ve been looking in Hokitika the rest of the day to find other pieces for our families, but there is just nothing as beautiful as yours.
