This Hei Matau, Hook pendant is 62mm in length and 27mm at its widest.
It is carved from Pounamu that we have collected from the South Westland Area, on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand. It is the 'Inanga Pounamu' and is called this due to the paleness of its colour which is like the Inanga fish - the whitebait of New Zealand.
Pendant Meaning: The Hei Matau has an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
The Hei Matau / hook gives the wearer strength and determination.
It brings peace, prosperity and good health.
It also provide the wearer with a safe journey through life - both a safe physical journey, especially over water and also helps them get through any hardships and tough times they may face.
