The Toki is 63mm in length and 28mm at its widest.
This Toki is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Marsden Valley in the Paroa area just outside of Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island. It is the 'Marsden Flower Jade' and is called this due to the unique golden colouring (the flower) in the stone found in the Marsden area.
The Toki has a waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water. It is four strands that have been hand platted into a special, round, 4-plait. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
This Toki also has the traditional cross-hatch binding around the top, which was one of the bindings used by the Maori to attach the Toki/adze blades to the wooden or bone handles to use as tools.
The Toki is the adze blade, the tool. It gives the wearer strength and courage to face, get through, do and achieve anything in their life.
