The Porohita is 40mm in length and 38mm wide. It is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Arahura River which runs between Greymouth and Hokitika, on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.
The Porohita has an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
It also has the traditional ridge-knot binding along the top. This binding was used by the Maori to attach the pounamu to wooden and bone handles to use as tools and weapons.
Pendant Meaning: The Porohita / disc represents the circle of life which has no beginning or end. In life the opportunities are endless so with this pendant you can achieve whatever you want to in life.
The back of the Porohita is shaped/scalloped so that it is comforting to rub while it is worn.
