The Toki is 50mm in length and 28mm at its widest.
It is carved from pounamu we have collected from the area of South Westland on the West Coast of the South Island. The Inanga variety of Pounamu takes its name from Inanga – a freshwater fish. The young fish are commonly called Whitebait. Inanga Pounamu resembles the pale colour and transparency of the mata – the young Whitebait. Inanga Pounamu is usually pearly-white or grey-green in colour and varies from translucent to opaque. It can change colour over time, developing a light-olive tint as it ages and oxidises.
The Toki has an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
The Toki is the adze blade, the tool. It gives the wearer strength and courage to face, get through, do and achieve anything in their life.
