The pendant is 86mm long and 47mm at its widest. It is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Rimu area just South of Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island.
The pendant has a waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in the water. It has a hand platted, round, 4-plait cord. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
This pendant has the traditional ridge-knot binding along the top. This was one of the bindings that was used to attach the Pounamu to wooden or bone handles to use as tools and weapons.
The pendant contains several Koru. The Koru represents growth, harmony and new beginnings. It was used by the Maori to represent an individual person, the family as a whole, an important time, event, trip or accomplishment in your life.
It is up to you what these Koru represent.
