The pendant is 30mm in length and 30mm at its widest.  It can be worn either way for two different looks.

This square  is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Marsden Valley in the Paroa Area just outside of Greymouth, on the West Coast of the South Island.

The pendant has a waxed nylon cord.  It has a hand platted, 4-plait cord.  It is extremely strong and is made to be worn all the time - even in water.  The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.  This pendant has the traditional ridge-knot bindings along the top.  This was one of the bindings the Maori traditionally used to attach the pounamu to wooden and bone handles to use as tools and weapons.

Pendant  Meaning:  The pendant gives the wearer strength and courage to face, get through, do and achieve anything in life.

This pendant also has a special carving on the front.  It has two Koru coming together. Each Koru can represent an individual person or the family as a whole.  The two Koru shows those peoples lives coming together in love, friendship and harmony.

There are three crescent shapes either side of the two Koru.  These can represent other people, children, family members, important places, or events in a persons life.  They can also represent past, present and future or Past generations and ancestors, the present generations and future generations.  It is up to the wearer what these Koru and crescent shapes represent.
