The pendant is 58mm in length and 46mm at its widest.

The Pounamu for this Hei Matau was collected from the Marsden Valley in the Paroa area, just outside of Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.  It is the Putiputi Pounamu - The 'Marsden Flower Jade'.  The Pounamu is called this due to the vivid green and unique golden, orange, yellow and creamy colours (the flower) in the stone which is found in the Marsden Area.

The Hei Matau has an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time.  It is a hand platted, round, 4-plait cord with the traditional snood binding around the top. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.

The snood binding is one of the bindings traditionally used by the Maori to attach the Pounamu to wooden and bone handles to use as tools and weapons.

Pendant Meaning:  The Hei Matau / hook gives the wearer strength and determination.

It brings peace, prosperity and good health.

It also provide the wearer with a safe journey through life - both a safe physical journey, especially over water and also helps them get through any hardships and tough times they may face.
