The pendant is 31mm long and 57mm wide.
This pendant is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Marsden Valley in the Paroa area just outside of Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.
The back of the pendant is scalloped/shaped so that it is extra comforting to rub with the thumb while the pendant is being worn.
The pendant has a waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water. It is four strands of cord that have been hand platted into a special, round, 4-plait. It is extremely strong and made to be worn all the time. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
Pendant Meaning: The Breastplate gives the wearer strength and protects them on their journey through life.
This breastplate also has two Koru carved into the front. The Koru itself represents the new shoots of the fern plant opening - growth, harmony and new beginnings. It was also used to represent an individual person, the family as a whole, an important place, time, event, achievement or accomplishment in the wearers life. It is up to you what meaning you put to these two Koru.
One Koru could represent an individual and the other Koru an individual or the family as a whole, showing your lives coming together in love, friendship and harmony.
