The pendant is 60mm high and 70mm long. It is smooth at the back so that it is comforting to rub while being worn.
This Breastplate is carved from pounamu we have collected from the South Westland Area, on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.
The Breastplate has an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in any water. It is four strands of cord that have been hand platted into a special, round, 4-plait. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
The breastplate also has a Koru in it. The Koru symbolises the new shoots of the fern plant opening. It represents growth, harmony and new beginnings. It was also used to represent the family as a whole, an individual person, an important time, place, event or accomplishment in ones life. The Maori had an oral language and these Koru symbols were used to tell your life story. It is up to the wearer of gifted what their Koru represents.
Pendant Meaning: The Breastplate is a symbol of strength and offers protection to the wearer. Like the sea shell protects the shell fish from anything in the sea. This pendant protects it wearer from anything in life that is trying to harm them.
