These are a pair of pendants that have been carved from the same slice of pounamu.

The Koru is 35mm in diameter.   The Toki is 52mm in length and 21mm at its widest.

The Pounamu for these pendants was collected from the Martyr River in the Haast Area of South Westland Area on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.

Pendant Meanings:  In the Koru symbolises growth, harmony and new beginnings.  it was used to represent the family as a whole, an individual, an important event, time, place, achievement or accomplishment in ones life.  This Koru represents the family that the two people make together.

The Toki has a special carving on the front.  It has the wearer represented as a Hei Matau/hook coming down into a Koru.  The Hei Matau/hook gives the wearer strength and determination.  It brings peace, prosperity and good health. It also provide the wearer with a safe journey through life - both a safe physical journey, especially over water and also helps them get through any hardships and tough times they may face.

Coming up and around with the wearers Koru is another Koru to represent the person who wears the Koru.  Like the two Koru it shows the two wearers lives coming together  in love, friendship and harmony.

These pair have an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendants can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water.  The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
