The Hei Tiki  is 85mm in length and 45mm at its widest.

It is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Martyr River in the Haast area of South Westland on the West Coast of the South Island.

The Tiki has an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water.  It has four strands of cord that have been hand platted into a special, round, 4-plait.  The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.

This Hei Tiki can only be hung vertically as shown in the photos.  It is shaped on the back so that it is comforting to rub while being worn.

Pendant Meaning:   The Tiki is an ancestral piece worn in remembrance of past ancestors and Whanau/family members.

It is thought to hold the power (Mana) of previous owners and aid the person who wears it.
