The Hei Matau is carved from pounamu we have collected from the Martyr River in the Haast Area of South Westland on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.
The pendant is 62mm in length and 28mm at its widest.
The Hei Matau has an extremely strong waxed nylon cord so the pendant can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
Pendant Meaning: The Hei Matau / hook gives the wearer strength and determination. It brings peace, prosperity and good health. It also provide the wearer with a safe journey through life - both a safe physical journey, especially over water and also helps them get through any hardships and tough times they may face.
