These are two Hei Matau / hook that fit together to form a double Koru, but then come apart for two people to wear a Hei Matau/hook each.

Both pendants are 49mm in length and 46mm at their widest.

The Pounamu for these Hei Matau was collected from the Marsden Valley in the Paroa area, just outside of Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.

Pendant  Meaning:  When together the two pendants form a double Koru showing the two peoples lives coming together in love, friendship and harmony.

Then when apart each person wears a Hei Matau/hook.  The Hei Matau/hook gives the wearer strength and determination.

It brings peace, prosperity and good health.

It also provide the wearer with a safe journey through life - both a safe physical journey, especially over water and also helps them get through any hardships and tough times they may face.

These Hei Matau/hooks have an extremely strong, waxed nylon cord so the pendants can be worn ALL the time - even in any kind of water.  The cords are hand platted, round, 4-plaits, with the traditional snood binding around the top. The cord is adjustable by pinching the special knots between your thumb and finger and pulling.
